Meet Sibley Fleming, LPC

Sibley specializes in treating trauma; in particular the “legacy” of trauma albeit eating disorders/addictions, systemic oppression, religious abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, and more.

Sibley Fleming, LPC, is a native of Atlanta, GA specializing in treating trauma; in particular the “legacy” of trauma albeit eating disorders/addictions, systemic oppression, religious abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse… She specifically enjoys working with marginalized communities so they can use their pain to create a life of purpose.

Sibley has served the mental health field for 8 years through multiple formats. Sibley’s history includes both outpatient care at the Atlanta Center of Eating Disorders (ACE), Inpatient Work at Ridgeview Institute on the Trauma and Eating Disorder Unit (RVI), and within a group Practice, Thriving Heart Healing Arts Associates. Now in private Practice, Zebra Vision Therapy, Sibley uses all forms of the arts plus multiple psychological theories to create an eclectic therapeutic process in which individuals are not pathologized but rather given the opportunity to use all means of communication to share their voice, story and needs.

A graduate of Emory University, Sibley did research abroad on Non-Verbal Behavior and how it effects children socially with Dr. Norwicki and Dr. Duke. Fascinated by how our non-verbal behaviors dictate a large part of our lives, Sibley expounds on this concept in her work with her clients.

On another front, Sibley might ask a new client to draw a mandala throughout their therapeutic journey if she feels it might help the client tap into their unconscious.

WORDS are powerful means of constraining or freeing individuals, so, Sibley specifically calls those who hire her, “clients” not “patients”. A strong advocate for her clients Sibley believes that the “Medical Model” which uses the term “patient” does the person a disservice. This disservice sets up an unsaid or rather LOUDLY stated power differential within the room. Sibley uses a more holistic model and strives to empower her clients to be partners not dependents within the therapeutic process.

It is important to note, Sibley does not throw out all of the “Medical Model” just this element. She comes from a medical background and does believe for some clients medication can be a life changer. Hence, Sibley works closely with Psychiatrists, or other service providers, allowing the client to rest assured knowing that they are being cared for by a well-informed team.

You may reach out to Sibley by phone at 912-713-0280 and/or email at Sibley@zebravisiontherapy.com.
