The TA Center

Meet Ali Dixon, LPC, PMH-C

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in trauma and PTSD, anxiety, maternal and perinatal mental health, life transitions, and family of origin issues. I have a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tulane University. I work with adults utilizing a person-centered and trauma-focused approach incorporating a variety of evidence-based techniques including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, mindfulness, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). At the basis of my therapeutic approach is the belief that we are all resilient – innately able to become happy and successful again after distressing events happen. By exploring the areas most important to my clients, I draw upon their strengths to provide them with tools and skills that relieve distress and foster a balanced life. This foundation allows us to safely address underlying causes of distress and promote healing from impactful life experiences. As a result of this approach, clients walk away with increased self-awareness, self-care skills, and life satisfaction.

Maternal, Postpartum & Perinatal Mental Health

I am especially passionate about working with women through the emotional, physical, and relational shifts that come with motherhood. The identity is constantly evolving as a person moves through the phases of motherhood beginning from the moment they consider becoming a mother all the way to empty nesting. Supporting women as they navigate each chapter and aiding them in fully embracing every part of the journey is my goal. With my background in trauma and anxiety, I am uniquely fit to work with anxious mothers as well as mothers who have experienced trauma, whether related or unrelated to birth and delivery.  I am trained through Postpartum Support International (PSI)  in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) and am certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). I also volunteer with the Georgia Chapter of PSI by training other professionals such as OB/GYNs and pediatricians on how to screen for and treat PMADs.

Anxiety, Trauma, & PTSD

During my career, I have engaged in extensive training and experience in the treatment of anxiety disorders and trauma within the private practice setting. I am passionate about helping people who have experienced difficult life events restore their balance, meaning, and joy. As a result of anxiety or trauma, many people arrive at a place of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. It is in these moments that we often ask ourselves, how did I get here and where do I go now? My aim is to help clients answer these questions by assisting them in creating a deeper awareness of whom they have been and whom they want to be going forward.

I would be honored to support you as you take the next step towards wellness!
